Tidbits: The Art of Buying Sextoys

The price of your favourite adult therapeutical aid, in layman’s terms, sextoy, can add up pretty damn fast, and break your bank account in the process! Trust me, I know first hand, but like all of you out there, I love a good deal and I’ll go to great lengths to get one. However that doesn’t mean compromising quality for cheap.

There is a reason I appreciate the product knowledge that your local sextoy advocate has when educating you on the good, the bad, and down right ugly in an industry that for the most part is unregulated. It’s because of this fact that companies are producing toys at lightning speed without a governing body to regulate and test the “toys” hence the reason the toys you use are classified as “novelty use” because, believe it or not, they are considered to have no use.

Whether you’re a man or a woman who knows what you like when it comes to getting off, you are probably inserting something up your ass, in your vagina, your mouth, or your partner’s for that matter. Hell you’re most likely rubbing them against yourself with fevered abandon! One thing is for sure, most people don’t care what they put on, or in their bodies to rub one out, but they should! Toys can be toxic, laced with chemicals and ingredients that would make your hair curl, or fall out. They can also be of cheap quality, heaven forbid!

RubyRyder on Reddit sums it up brilliantly with her article Toxic Sex Toys- What To Know Before You Buy, in her own words;

dangerouslillytoxictoys“Toxic toys contain PVC plastics with “phthalates” (pronounced tha-lates), which help to soften the toys. Greenpeace has called on the European Union to ban the use of phthalates in adult novelties, as they have already banned them in toys for children. The latest research indicates that exposure to these substances can upset the body’s ability to regulate hormone production, damage reproduction, and can cause liver and kidney defects. They can also possibly cause cancer.”

When shopping, it’s not just about the chemicals, it actually is about the quality of the product which goes without saying! Ask yourself; is it reputable, is it from your favourite company or manufacturer? Is it a knock-off or the real deal? I won’t go into this as one of my favourite reviewers at Dangerous Lily goes into this in great detail with her article titled; Why Buying Sex Toys from Amazon is a Risky Gamble.

Retailers with knowledgeable sales associates are very important since they are there to help you make the best decision when acquiring your next latest and greatest. They should know the products, what they do, how they work, what they are made of, determine what it is you need, and all in a welcoming and non-judgemental environment and attitude. They’re also to help work within your budget and provide you with the best you can afford at that time. We know that not everyone can afford the most expensive and nor should you, not every item that costs a lot will work the best for you. We work very hard at product knowledge and try to provide you with the best and safest options that will work within your budget needs.

sextoy educatorWe’re not the only ones, but my business partner and I have our fledgling venture at Eldorado Boutique with our ever growing list of products that we have researched long and hard. We also make it clear that if you don’t see something on our site that you are looking for, all you have to do is ask, and we’ll do the best we can to research that product, and in most cases make it available to you! That’s what we do, we’ve already established a relationship with our suppliers and product companies to know what goes into these items.

Happy shopping!
