Sexy This Week: The Beauty of Ages

Carmen Dell'orefice

As time ticks on, so do we and in the words of a David Bowie song

“Pretty soon now you’re gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can’t trace time”

Poetic words to live by and let’s be honest we are all fighting it to some degree, and if not gracefully, then pretty damn ugly. I am no “negative nelly” when it comes to having the services of a cosmetic surgeon attend to my upkeep, hell no! I am all for it, but there are definitely times when going overboard looks as though you’ve been out to sea for months on end, stranded by yourself in a dingy with nothing else but you and your urine. In other words a hot mess!!

Tweaking, versus a complete overhaul each time you set foot into the doctors office is what a person should consider, but getting Rick Foxback on course here, with age, usually comes beauty. Beauty that comes with experience, a calm, and in control demeanour, infectious personality, and a genuine love of life, the beauty of age, that’s what’s sexy this week.

With age comes a lot of things learned and developed, a few I mentioned in the previous paragraph, and with most of it, a deeper beauty from the inside out. I am attracted to people of all shapes and sizes, and within that, of all ages. No I am not getting down with minors, lets make that clear, but during a recent conversation with a close friend, I determined that the age range for those in my life I found beautiful, ranged from 25 years to 75 years. Making the number, truly irrelevant in my opinion, but since we are human, many of us creatures tend to focus on the ugliness of how old a person is Daphne Selferather than the beauty of their age.

I hate being asked how old I am, and as such I hate doing the same. A kinder more appreciative statement is in asking a person “what age are you”, if you have to even ask it all! The truth is, that beauty comes with all ages, from the young to the mature, and what you appreciate as beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Whatever you find as beautiful only you can define, no one else can, and nor should you let anyone define it for you.

Whether it is surface beauty or soul deep all it takes is eyes to be wide open, ears to listen close, a nose to smell it all, hands to touch and feel the vibrations, a mouth for expression, and a clear and open mind to interpret the beauty in all……….
