Tidbits; The Intersex!
After watching a lovely video by one of my fave bands, Goldfrapp, Annabel. I was brought to tears, watching and listening to the lyrics so eloquently written by that dynamic duo. It struck so many chords and given what is in the news these days regarding the issue, I wanted to express that on some of the sites I “was” on.
I say “was on” since I am no longer as I came up against cowards not wishing to address anything to do with it and shut me down. Yes I get your “terms of service” but when they seriously conflict with your “mission” statement well WTF! No room for discussion, hear me out, change a few policies? I think that most western
worlds and countries are acting in democratic fashions! Of course maybe I am wrong?
What’s this all about? INTERSEXUALITY, no not a new form of sexual creature for you own perversions but completely something else.
For those of you that don’t know, intersexuality as defined by Wikipedia is;
Intersex, in humans and other animals is a variation in sex characteristics including chromosomes, gonads, and/or genitals that do not allow an individual to be distinctly identified as male or female. Such variation may involve genital ambiguity, and combinations of chromosomal genotype and sexual phenotype other than XY-male and XX-female. Intersex infants with ambiguous outer genitalia may be surgically ‘corrected’ to more easily fit into a socially accepted sex category. Others may opt, in adulthood, for surgical procedures in order to align their physical sex characteristics with their gender gender identity or the sex category to which they were assigned at birth. Others will not become aware that they are intersex—unless they receive genetic testing—because it does not manifest in their phenotype. Some individuals may be raised as a certain sex (male or female) but then identify with another later in life, while others may not identify themselves as either exclusively female or exclusively male.
Anyway without getting to get to far off topic I must say that the whole subject gets me and I have my own reasons that are relative to my own situation in life. Individuals in that situation already have it tough from birth with most parents in their ignorance and misguided recommendations from idiot doctors deciding to implement surgical procedures for their child as they don’t, or won’t have the courage to unconditionally love that child. Truly what does it matter what Terry is wearing to school? Shouldn’t they be happy children free to decide what it is they are to become when they get older, not for the elders to choose?
We should be supportive no matter what, breaking down societal fears and misconceptions, walking side by side with everyone!
It starts long before birth with all the hormone inducing, cloaking receptors out there creating this beautiful anomaly. It’s chemicals made by us, in almost all our daily household products, plastics, the lining of cans, food, the leftover hormones that end up in toilets flushed out to sea. It affects us all and until we can get control of our crap, why not love what the end product is in these children . Ok it is not just the chemicals producing the variance as it does occur naturally, more than you think, but more so these days with our misuse of certain chemicals and the medias presentation.
So why not talk about it? Or are we just to sweep it under the rug and let it go? Not me! If we can’t talk about it as adults then when can we? Why can’t we even talk about it with the those it affects? Including the kids, do we all have to be counsellors to do so. Counsellors I might point out that are also treading the waters of uncharted seas. It seems that we have broached the subject of transsexuality and the next up is intersexuality. Hopefully not such a long way to go on that one!
You may want to skip on over on to the Intersex Society of North America and have look they are absolutely GREAT!!
Here’s to a supportive, loving and caring world!!
